The more time that passes since I've seen it... the more I realize how disappointing it was. First of all- the thing was BORING. I mean, there's dramatically paced- and then there's boring... and this was boring. For all the camp that was thrown in (and I agree.. there was some camp) it didn't do any thing for the film, other than make it feel wildly unbalanced in tone. The bulk of the film was SO serious and SO melancholy that the camp just felt goofy and out of place. The love story was atrocious. Emily Blunt's Character was absolutely pointless. These two characters meet for the first time and she's in love with him almost instantly... the brother of her husband... who just died... WTF? Anthony Hopkins is sort of fun- but it's SO painfully obvious that He's the other wolf from the very beginning, that it's like knowing what you're getting for Christmas and just having to go through the motions until it's time to open it. The thrill of the surprise is gone, you're just like... "come on- just get to it already".
Talbot is just kinda' there. I was never drawn into his character. I don't really feel bad for him- I'm not angry or sad or really feel anything towards the character. He turns into a wolf... and that's about it. Hugo Weaving's character is a REAL missed opportunity. He's just kind of wasted as this quasi hero/villain (depending on your perspective). This could've been a chance to up the tensions- and really make the viewer split on who to root for. Were there some good scenes? yeah- there were a couple of fun scenes, but even those were soured by certain notes (the whole London scene was great- and then topped off with the SINGLE WORST WOLF HOWL IN CINEMATIC HISTORY!) Literally people in the theater (including me and my wife) laughed out loud at the howl. Rick Bakers make up looked GREAT on Del Toro. On Hopkins... it was just bad. Real bad- I mean... Teen Wolf bad.
For me- there was way more disappointing than exciting about the Wolfman.jasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18198546068373843101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8576666821663794988.post-32854027906952025412010-02-04T19:56:26.243-05:002010-02-04T19:56:26.243-05:00Beatles: Rock Band is awesome, by the way. lol- seriously ......and color is just a gimmick!

lol- seriously though. I don't get the 3D "TV's". You can already buy movies (Coraline for instance) and it comes with 3D glasses and you can watch it on your regular TV in 3D. will the new TVs just not require the use of glasses? that would be the only reason I could see buying a whole new TV for it.jasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18198546068373843101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8576666821663794988.post-84509798919517036682010-01-06T23:12:59.757-05:002010-01-06T23:12:59.757-05:00I would have to agree about the negative stereotyp...I would have to agree about the negative stereotypes of Avatar. For me it was quite annoying that the Na'vi tribe was a smooth mix of rural African and American Indian. And honestly, I didn't notice that the colonel was more of a bad guy. I thought he wanted to wipe out the tribe cause he was pissed that they scarred him, not so much him being a southerner. But your observation was an astute analysis. I saw it more as a one man venegance machine. But you took it somewhere new.

Thanks for starting this blog. I'm glad. You should get paid for your reviews. That would be cool huh?Meghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17427508389654206846noreply@blogger.com
